C++ Learning Roadmap
Work through the stages in order. Postpone anything marked "later" until the stage before it feels comfortable. Use the status menu on each topic to track progress; it is saved in your browser.
| Stage | Parts | Study |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Beginner | 1–6 | Now. Fundamentals, operators, control flow, functions, scope, arrays and strings. |
| 2. Core C++ | 7–9, 18, 30–32 | Now. Pointers, references, dynamic memory, namespaces, preprocessor, headers, linking. |
| 3. OOP | 10–17 | After core. Classes, constructors, copying and moving, inheritance, polymorphism, operator overloading, casting. |
| 4. STL | 21–25 | After OOP basics. Containers, iterators, algorithms, lambdas, utilities. |
| 5. Modern C++ | 19, 20, 26, 27, 33, 37 | Templates, concepts, smart pointers, exceptions, RAII, C++11 to C++23. |
| 6. Advanced C++ | 28, 29, 34–36, 38–40 | Streams and files, object model, type system, concurrency, debugging, testing, CMake. Can overlap with stage 5. |
| 7. Professional C++ | 41–46 | Design, data structures, algorithms, performance, low-level, advanced STL. Later. |
| 8. Specialized C++ | 47–48 | Later. Networking, games, embedded, HPC, finance, competitive programming. |
